Support for Young People Seeking Asylum

Our 18+ Trust Service offers a safe and stable next step for young people who arrived in the UK as unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and have now turned 18 while still awaiting a final asylum decision. This stage can feel heavy — adulthood begins, responsibilities increase, yet their future remains uncertain.

At Next Phase Housing, we understand how fragile this transition can be. That’s why we provide consistent routines, familiar support workers and a calm living environment that reduces pressure rather than adding to it.

We combine emotional support, structured daily living and clear practical guidance so young people never feel alone or overwhelmed during this period.

What We Focus On

To keep our support clear, accessible and easy to understand, we help each young person with:

  • Understanding their rights and asylum process, including key stages and what to expect.
  • Having consistent, trusted staff who encourage emotional stability and confidence.
  • Maintaining structure and routine to reduce stress and support positive daily habits.
  • Developing practical life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning and managing appointments.
  • Accessing education and training, including college, ESOL and meaningful activities.
  • Staying connected to health and wellbeing services, from GPs to mental-health support.
  • Feeling part of the community, through social inclusion, volunteering and cultural or faith activities.

Our goal is simple: to keep young people safe, supported, focused and hopeful, with a strong sense of belonging while their immigration status is being decided.
